In 1841 and 1851 the family lived in Oxwich. The children of this family were the only Morgans baptized in Oxwich.

He married Margaret Hopkin, married 10 Feb 1819 in Penrice, Glamorgan, Wales, b. c. 1794 in Penrice, Glamorgan, Wales.

Mary: In 1861, Mary’s mother, Eleanor Lavey, age 68, widow, was livng with John and Mary.

Harriet was listed as “Harriet Morgan” in her burial records in Penrice. She and son’s father never married.

Son’s father was David Rees, b. c. 1829 in Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales, shoemaker, resided Llangyfelach in Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales.

David: Parish registers say “of Llangyfelach”.

While the family seemed to have resided in Oxwich, the children were baptized in Nicholston.

He married Elizabeth ?? Morgan, b. c. 1827 in Margam, Glamorgan, Wales.

In 1881, John was 25 and unmarried. He was listed as “head” of household. His brother William and sister, Elizabeth, lived with him in Oystermouth.

1871 Census lists birthplace as Nicholston. He was baptized in Nicholston.
