James also seems to have improved the house with additions during this time.

In her mother's will Jone was to recieve money to be paid by her brother Thomas at the "disposition and discretion" of her other brother John Rundle the executor. Her husband, William was to receive a cow and Jone was to receive Alice's "best gown and best apron and six shillings in money so as her husband shall have nothing to do therein but as the discretion of the executor shall think fitt". In 1611, Jone challenged her brother and contested his execution of the will. She claimed had not received her entitlement but John Rundle maintained that he had fulfilled his requirement. After several applications, Jone seems to have lost her case.

There are lease documents in the possesion of descendents of this family which show that John aquired the lease to Tredinnick 1664. The documents mention John Sr. and John the younger. John Rundle seems to have aquired the lease with Nicholas Libby, his daughter in law's father, as well as John Libby and Baldwyn Hoskin. There are assurances that at the time of John the elder's death, Tredinnick would pass on to John the younger. This document was dated two months after Loveday and John the younger's marriage.

Having aquired Tredinnick Farm just before his death, it seems that John must have moved there as he was listed as "of Tredinnick" at the time of his death.

John's father, John Sr, was able to purchase the lease to the Tredinnick Farm, west of Hole, with the help of his first wife's family.

It seems that John's "first family" by Loveday, stayed in Tredinnick for many more years, while John and his "second family", by Ephiphany, remained at Hole. During his tenure, John aquired the lease to Pengelly next door to Hole. This marks the split in the Rundle family mentioned in Mr. Crow's "History of Hole Farm".

Jonathan inherited sole responsibility for all of Hole and Pengelly upon the death of his grandfather, John Sr.

During his tenure, Jonathan was able to purchase one half of Hole Farm, while the remaining half he continued to lease from the three owners. In 1724, Jonathan added to the family holdings by taking a lease for neighboring Ley. In 1726, he took steps towards full ownership of Hole by purchasing half interest in Hole out right.

According to will of his father, he was to inherit lease at Tredinnick. He technically should have been in line to inherit Hole Farm as well, but due to his young age at the time of his grandfather's death, his step-uncle Jonathan inherited Hole instead.

An 1842 map shows that of the properties owned or leased by the Rundles in 1793, only Hole, Tupton, Ley, Trebinnick, Higher and Lower Hobbs and Trewindle remained to John Rundle of Hole. And John Rundle of the "other section" of the family retained only Lower Tredinnick.

John and Rebecca do not seem to have had a very good marriage. In 1742, they were both accused of "fornication". A few years earlier Rebecca was accused of "brawling".

He married Rebecca Lyne, married 2 Feb 1727 in Menenhoit, Cornwall, Eng,2 b. c. 1694, d. 25 Feb 1781.

Twin of John White.

After obtaining research done by Donald Worth Rundle I realized that he had Jonathan with a different wife, Ann Worth. This got me to start looking for more proof as to who Jonathan was married to. Donald W. Rundle that John Worth's father was listed as "Jonathan" on his birth certificate. There was also a book on the history of St. Neot in the family's possesion. On Jonathan and Ann's marriage certificate..Jonathan's father was listed Hugh. So that proved that connection at least.

Wondering if there were two Jonathan's born in St. Neot at the same time. Starting with the fact that there is only one Jonathan bap. in St. Neot anywhere near 1815.. got me digging deeper.

I have come to the conclusion that Jonathan had two families.. at the same time!

I have 1841 Census with Jonathan, age 27, still living with his parents. Which fits since he didn't marry Ann Worth until 1842.

Now here's where it gets interesting.. from 1842- 1861 Jonathan is a very elusive guy. While we know that his children by Ann, John Worth and Bessie, were born in Jersey, Channel Islands in 1842 and 1844, Jonathan does not show up on 1851 Census for Jersey. I checked all spellings and possibilities.. couldn't find Ann or John W. either. They do not show up in 1851 Census for England either.

I do not know Jane's maiden name, so it's impossible to look for her in 1851, as she and Jonathan probably did not have a relationship yet at that point.

Then in 1861 Ann shows up in Camborne, Cornwell.. a "widow". On the line for occupation, "husband is dead" is listed.

However.. Jonathan b. 1815 in St. Neot is found as a "lodger" in St. Andrews, Devon ( the town where he and Ann were married). He is listed as "married".

I cannot find Jane and daughter, Selina, in 1861. Since there is a possibility that Jonathan and Jane were not actually married, I am guessing that they

were living under Jane's maiden name.

To make things interesting, the town where Jonathan and Jane's first child is born, Launceston, is basically adjoined to St. Stephens where Ann is from.

In 1870 the "widowed" Ann is in New Jersey, USA, living with her son, John.

Then miraculously in 1871 Jonathan appears with family number 2. I have Jonathan Rundle b. 1815 in St. Neot .. living in Sithney, Cornwall with wife, Jane and 3 daughters. Sithney is not very far from Camborne where his "other family" was last in Cromwell.

onathan could be the Jonathan, age 59, died 1872 in Helston, in BMD Index.

In 1881, Jane is a widow in Crowden, Cornwell with daughters.

In 1891, Jane is living with daughter, Bessie, (yes Jonathan had two daughter's named daughter "Bessie"??) .. who was married and living in Penzance, Cornwall.

He married (1) Ann Worth, married 5 Mar 1842 in St. Andrews, Plymouth, Devon, Eng, b. c. 1810 in St. Stephens on Launceston, Cornwall, Eng.,28

Ann: Daughter of Ann Smith and Richard Worth of Cornwall. In 1861, Ann was living in Camborne, Corwnwall with John and Bessie. She is listed as "widow". In 1870 and 1880, she is living in the US with her son and his family. She may have returned to England before her death.

Children:

68. i. John Worth9 Rundle b. 5 Dec 1842.

ii. Elizabeth Rundle, b. c. 1844 in Jersey, Channel Islands.,28,

He married (2) Jane ??? Rundle, b. 1827 in Tavistock, Devon, England, resided in Sitheny, Cornwall, England, d. post 1891,27 occupation Charwoman.

Jane: I cannot find Jane anywhere in the 1861 Census. It is possible she was living under her maiden name, since I doubt that she and Jonathan were actually "married" at this time. 1881 census shows Jane a widow aged 53 a charwoman, living at Tregear Bottom, Crowan, Cornwall with daughter Lucy (aged 11), and daughter Emily (aged 8, born Sithney, Cornwall). In 1891, she was living with daughter, Bessie, and her family in Penzance, Cornwall.

In 1841, Brice (age 20) is listed as a mason working for William Burweth. In 1881, he is listed as "married".

In 1841, William was age 45, unmarried and living with his father and three brothers, however in 1851 his "son", John Kent Rundle is listed as being age 12, meaning he was born in 1839. In 1851, there is also an Elizabeth Kent, age 17, working as a servant. By 1871, the running of the Carlyon Arms seems to have been taken over by Jeremiah Keast. Jeremiah's daughter, Ann, had married a John Rundle b. 1838, however it is not John Kent. This John was born in Talland. Ann and John had a son Charles. I think it is his descendents who Richard Crow mentions in the History of Hole Farm.

The Minesota mine which operated near Rockland 1846-1865 paid out millions of dollars in dividends.

In Mt. Hope, the family belonged to the Mt. Hope Methodist church which was built in 1868 by the mining company for their employees and their families. It has also served as a hospital, and, when needed, as a schoolhouse.Pews in this church were used by the well-to-do parishoners, while the balcony was thought to be sufficient for the miners and their families.
