Sarah (?) Hodge, d. c.1781. Samuel died 8 May 1764, Glastonbury, Ct. Mr. Hodge
was a land-holder in Glastonbury as early as 1712. Records show him as having a
farm in the Eastbury/Buckingham area, “alittle northwesterly of Nipsic Pond.”
This land was sold in 1733 to Henry Hills. In 1735, Mr. Hodge purchased land
from Jonathan Strickland. He also was granted a portion of land in Eastbury in
1723. Sarah: Some of her descendents claim Sarah to be the daughter of Thomas
and Hannah Dustin of Haverhill, Ma., “whose Indian fame is historical.” If this
is true, her birthdate would be 4 Jul 1688.

says that while “Mr. Hodge probably lived there (Glastonbury) all his life, but
the records of the town make little mention of him.” This seems to be true as no
records for Hatsel have shown up. Marriage was performed by Jeremiah Stocking,
Justice of the Peace. Filed in clerks office on 4 Jan 1823.

brother, Roman Hodge, lived next door and worked in the Plane factory. There is
a burial record for a Henry Hodge, married “pedlar” who lived in Danbury, CT and
was buried in Bethel, CT. He died 11 Aug 1899 and was “66 years, 1 m, 0days”
which fits with c.1834-5 birth. Parents listed as “H–ll??” and Mary. Father was
Hatsell.
